Austin – A mobile station issuing Election Identification Certificates (EICs) will be at the Historical Building in Mason for three days in October. On Tuesday, Oct. 21 and Wed., Oct. 22, the station will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Thursday, Oct. 23, the station will operate from 11 a.m.

The 65th Mason County Farm Bureau Convention will be held Tuesday October 7, 2014 at 6:00 p. m. at the Mason ISD School Cafeteria. A barbeque meal will be served at no charge to guests. There will also drawings for door prizes. After the barbeque meal, the evening will continue with guest speakers Davie Huie from the Hickory Underground Water Conservation District and Misty Martin with the Texas Beef Council.

The City of Mason Used Tire Clean-Up is scheduled for September 29th –October 3rd from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and October 4th from 8:00 a.m. until noon. The tire cleanup will be held at the City of Mason Recycle Center located at 510 North Avenue F. The cost per regular vehicle sized tires and smaller tires will be $2 per tire.

The October meeting of the Hill Country CattleWomen will be hosted by the Kerrville and Mountain Home Members. The meeting will be held on October 21, 2014, at Buzzie’s BBQ located at 213 Schreiner St., Kerrville. Social Hour will begin at 10:00 a.m. the meeting to follow at 10:30 a.m.

This coming Saturday, Sept 27, 2014, at 8am, The 8th Annual Gem of the Hill County 5k/10k run will that place. All runners, joggers and walkers are invited to come out and support the Mason Lions club by participating in the run and walk. You can register at the Mason Chamber of Commerce, or you can call Eva Tannehill at 325-347-1518.

The Mason Garden Club will once again be having a booth at the Old Yeller Days celebration on Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. The club will be selling plants both that they have grown and those purchased commercially. This year they will have bluebonnet seed for sale, also.

Don Durflinger will be conducting a study on the Seven Feasts of the Bible found in the Book of Leviticus (Chapter 23). Research often shows the mechanics of the Festivals while this presentation shows the meaning of each Festival in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. The study will be tonight, Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m.

On the 29th of September, the Veterans of Foreign Wars will celebrate a birthday. The VFW was founded in 1899 on this date. The Mason Post will hold a celebration on the 29th at 6:30 p.m. at the Post home on Post Hill St. We invite you to come by and visit with us and help us celebrate our birthday. The MISD Education Foundation presents Tom Shepherd & Coley McCabe band performing at a street dance on the square. The dance is scheduled for Saturday, October 18th at 8:30 PM, BBQ dinner at 7:00 catered by Wayne & Tana Hoffmann (minimum donation of $10). Justin & Heather McFarland will play from 7:15 - 8:15 pm.

The Menard County SWCD #215 and the Menard County Agri-Life Service will host a CEU Pesticide Workshop on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. This coming Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 10am to 3pm, on the grounds of the Mason County Courthouse, the 2nd Annual Fall Festival of Churches will be there to sell great food, handmade items, as well as offer fun games for the kids to play. Each church is raising money for the great causes that they support.
