Hill Country - Texas Sheep & Goat Raisers Auxiliary will hear Dr. Rodney Kott, retired sheep specialist for Montana speak about recent research and information on wool. This will be March 2, 9:30 AM at the Rogers Creek House, 6341 South Ranch Road 783, Harper, Texas. Contact Fran Dendy 830-257-5942 for reservations. The auxiliary will be discussing the educational events coming up also the scholarship program.

The 2nd Annual Northpoint Student Ministries Run4theSon 5k run/walk and Children’s 1K run will be held on Sat. April 25th, 2015, in Brady, TX, starting and finishing at Richard’s Park off Hwy 87. The 1K starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K at 8:30 a.m. Late registration and packet pickup will start at 7 a.m.

Dale Watson, Austin’s king of country music, will bring his Lone Stars band and hardcore country music to Mason Saturday March 21. So, if you’re yearnin’ for some good ol’ real country music, then the Odeon Theater in Mason is the place to be. Show time is 7:00 PM and tickets are $20 per person. Dale Watson grew up listening to the likes of Lefty Frizzell, Hank Williams and Buck Owens and his musical roots and values remain steadfast to real country music.

The Texas A&M AgriLIfe Extension Service will conduct a Multi-County Wildlife Program and Tour on April 9, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Murchison/Whitehead Memorial Youth Complex, Menard, TX. The complex is located on Highway 29/190 west going from Menard to Eldorado. If you are coming in from the Llano area you can travel 29 all the way.

On February 28th, Operation Desert Storm began. Post 8554 Mason VFW will hold a ceremony on March 3rd to remember the start of this conflict. All interested persons are invited to join us at 2 p.m. at the Post on Post Hill St. to help remember those who put their life on the line in this event. The Hilda Community Club will meet on February 20 at 6:30 PM. Guest speaker will be Keith Kaan, Design and Construction Manager for Habitat for Humanity. His presentation will be on green building and energy efficiency. Hosts are Patrick and Marnee Loftin. A barbeque sausage and beans dinner will be served, and members are requested to provide sides or deserts.
