The Golf Tournament has been canceled due to rain. It will be rescheduled at a later date. The Mason Puncher Club is holding its 13th Annual Golf Tournament Saturday, May 16th at the Mason Golf Course. The tournament will be a 4 person 18 hole scramble with 1 mulligan and bonus string.

The Post will have a couple of events to celebrate the 4th. On July the 2nd, there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Mason court house at 3 p.m. Post members and the general public are encouraged to attend. On the 11th of July, the veterans will have a float in the Mason Round-Up parade.

The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library is offering free computer classes throughout the summer. Carol Tucker will be teaching Microsoft Word 2010 beginning at 6:00 P.M. on July 7th. The class runs four consecutive Tuesday evenings. In August Carol will begin a four-session Excel Class. Class size is limited, so please call 325-347-5446 to register.

Adventure guide, yoga teacher and life coach Sally M. Martin will be leading river adventure activities for women on the Llano River on July 8th (intermediate kayak trip), July 15th and August 2nd(stand up paddle boarding) with Llano Region River Adventures and Aloha Llano, respectively, in Mason, Texas. Horse racing fans can celebrate Independence Day at the first of four big pari-mutuel horse racing weekends at Fredericksburg Downs on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5 at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds. Gates open at 11 a.m. and post time is 1 p.m. both days. The City of Fredericksburg Fourth of July Parade will be held Saturday morning starting at 10 a.m. Admission to the races is $7 for adults, $3 for children six to 15 years of age and free for children five and under.

The voice of Suzanna Choffel was featured on NBC’S The Voice 2012 season when she won a spot on Blake Shelton’s team after performing Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Choffel went as far as the knockout round with Cassadee Pope who won the season 3. Suzanna will bring her voice to the Odeon theater Saturday July 25 at 7:00PM.

The Llano Tea Party announces its 3rd annual July 4th celebration of our nation’s Declaration of Independence from the British Crown. The event will take place on Saturday, July 4 at the American Legion Hall, 200 Legion in Llano. Hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, desserts and tea will be served. A donation of $5 for adults is requested for the meal; children 12 and under are free.

It is Community Appreciation time once again at the Mason Community Thrift Store! On Friday, July 10, the store is planning a special celebration, to coincide with the 2nd anniversary of the move to a permanent location on the Courthouse Square, at 206 Moody Street. In appreciation for the support the community, both in shopping & in donations, drawings will be held every half hour for terrific Door Prizes.

The track is prepared and starting gates ready for the first of four big pari-mutuel horse racing weekends at Fredericksburg Downs on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5 at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds. The program offers a full slate of quarter horse and thoroughbred racing as well as special races, trials, and futurities. Gates open at 11 a.m.

Adventure guide, yoga teacher and life coach Sally Martin will be leading a women’s kayaking and yoga trip on the Llano River on June 22nd with Llano Region River Adventures in Mason, Texas. Due to recent rains, the Llano River is at a beautiful level to be able to paddle and see the wilderness of the river corridor through Mason County.

The Hilda Community Club will meet this Friday, June 19th at 6:30 p.m. in the Hilda Community Building on RR 783. Don and Gerry Daniel are hosts and will provide desserts and drinks. The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Llano County, will be having a Private Pesticide Applicator Training Class on Monday, June 29, 2015. Class will begin with registration at 8:00 am with the training beginning at 8:15 am. Cost of the training if you pick up your materials is $75. If info is mailed to you, cost will be $85.
