C.H.O.I.C.E camp is having its last session of a four part series this Saturday, May 18 at Richards Park in Brady. Our last session will wrap up with the day campers identifying who they are today and what their goals for their future are. Plans will be made as to how they can achieve their goals, both short term and long term in life no matter what their age.

Llano County will have a Private Applicator License training on Monday, June 24, 2013, beginning with registration at 8:00 a.m. and the training starting at 8:15 a.m. The training will be held at the Llano County Extension Office, 1447 East State Highway 71-Unit E in Llano. Training will last approximately 4 hours with testing done after lunch.

The Bluebonnet Study Club will hit the road again on Monday, May 20, 2013, with a trip to Long Mountain Community Club. This program will continue our visits to historical schools and buildings.
Plan to meet at the Long Mountain Community Club at 10:30 a.m. on the 20th. Pack a sack lunch and come have fun.

The Hilda Community Club will meet Friday, May 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the community club house.
George & Karen Loftin are the hosts and will be serving King Ranch Chicken. If you can, bring a salad or dessert; drinks will also be provided.
We’ll be playing bingo (with prizes!) after a short business meeting.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Mason County will be having a Progressive Rancher Workshop on Tuesday, May 28th at the Richard Eckert Civic Center in Mason, located at 1024 McKinley Street. Drs. Bob Lyons and Rick Machen of Texas AgriLife Research will be presenting along with Cory Pence of Texas Department of Agriculture.

Hello all you Puncher fans that barely survive from football season to football season, you are in luck. Little Puncher football is firing up and getting ready for another great season. Don’t miss the annual hamburger cook-out on Sunday, May 19 from 11am – 1:30pm on the square. A meal deal will be offered with a dessert treat.

The Mason Garden Club will meet on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library Stribling Room. The program will be “Landscape Plans for Heritage Park” presented by Dr. Michael Murphy of Mason.
Dr. Murphy is a retired professor who taught landscape architecture and horticulture at Texas A&M University.

The Mason Puncher Alumni football players will face the Brady Bulldogs in Puncher Stadium on Friday June 7th with a 7:30 p.m. start. It will feature two fine teams with most of our great ones coming together again one more time.
Cost to register this month is $60 and $75.00 in June.

The Llano Country Opry will be staged on Saturday, May 11, at the Lantex Theater in downtown Llano. Allen Frizzell will be hosting a tribute to his brother Lefty Frizzell. The show will begin at 7:30 PM and admission is $15.00 per person. Tickets are now on sale at the Llano Chamber of Commerce, Llano National Bank, Lively Computers in Kingsland or by calling (325) 247-5354.

The May meeting will be changed to the 2nd Monday of May. This will be on the 13th at 6:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.
Meeting discussions will center around next year's plans, the Memorial ceremony, and flags being put out on local veterans' graves.

Judge Rob Hofmann will address the bi-monthly meeting of the Republican Women of Mason County on Wednesday, May 15th in the Stribling Room of Mason County Library.
Annual scholarship winners will also be honored.
The luncheon meeting will begin at noon. Please call Mary Carlman at 325-9605 by Saturday May 11th if you plan to attend.

The American Legion Fort Mason Post 285 will be having a meeting on Thursday, May 9th, at 7:00pm, at the American Legion Post Hall, 237 Post Hill St. (behind the Jail).
Plans will be made for the placement of cemetary flags, the Memorial Day Salute to be held on Monday, May 27th, plus discussion on the future of the Post.

The Lamplight Designs high school art competition will have a closing reception on Friday at 5 o’clock at Topaz Confections bakery.
Deborah Hofmann, co-owner of Lamplight Designs, will be present to give awards to the students. The public is invited to attend.
