In preparation for their summer trip abroad, the Mason High School Spanish Club will be selling casseroles this Saturday in Brady at the Walmart from 8:00 to 12:00. These enchilada casseroles will be a perfect follow-up to Thanksgiving turkey. All proceeds will assist students with their expenses while on the ground.

All members of the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country are gearing up for their annual show and sale at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Parrish Hall (located at 210 S. Ave. B in Mason) on December 5 & 6. A large amount of local talent will be in full force and on display at the show, which promises to be both an art opening and a great opportunity for holiday shoppers to give a gift of creativity.

Individuals affected by acute and chronic pain are invited to a free pain management presentation with dinner at Nacho’s Café in Mason on Tuesday, Dec. 2. A complimentary dinner will be provided at 6:00 p.m., and the presentation begins at 6:30. The presentation includes a participant-guided question-and-answer session with Ralph Menard, M.D., a nationally recognized pain management physician with the Hill Country Memorial Medical Group.

BRADY – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the Tri-County Land and Livestock Conference on Dec. 3 at the Heart of Texas Event Center, 804 San Angelo Highway, Brady. Tim Osburn will return to the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library on November 26, 10:00 A.M. -12:00 noon in the Stribling Room to give a Medicare educational program and to answer questions. Mr. Osburn is an expert in Medicare, and the program is designed to assist Medicare and Medicaid recipients on how to choose, change, and enroll in 2015 Medicare Health Plans and/or Prescription Drug Plans.

The final fall cooking class at the Mason county Library will be desserts. And not only one dessert but eight of Chef Nonine’s(Martha Kothmann) favorite desserts. Nanimo Bars, which are a delicious chocolate bar from Canada, are sold on the streets wrapped in saran wrap. Easy to make, you can’t stop eating them, they are addictive.

Mason ShortStop and NuWay Grocery have contacted the News and indicated that they want to revive the tradition of a contest for residents who go to the trouble of decorating their homes for the Christmas holiday. The two stores, owned by Charlie and Linda Reichenau, have offered a $300 prize for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place.

Marel Morris, missionary to Latvia, will be speaking at the Cavalry Lighthouse Assembly of God Church on Sunday, November 16 during the 11:00 a.m. service. The church is located at 716 Wren Street. The City of Mason Recycle Center will be participating in a region-wide electronics and computer event offered by ECS Refining and Concho Valley Council of Governments. The event will be held November 17th - November 20th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the City of Mason Recycle Center located at 510 North Avenue F in Mason.
