Mason, Texas – Residents living in and around the Mason, Texas community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture. City of Mason Community Building will host Life Line Screening on 10/22/2014. The site is located at 1015 San Antonio in Mason. Heino Erichsen from The Woodlands, TX, participated in a Life Line Screening event in January of 2009 and learned that he had an abdominal aortic aneurysm and a blockage in his carotid artery.

The City of Mason had such a tremendous turnout on the used tire cleanup that we are extending the event through Saturday, October 11th! The cost per regular vehicle tire and smaller tires is $2.00 per tire. Truck and tractor tires or anything larger than a standard vehicle tire will cost $5.00 per tire.

The First United Methodist Church will be celebrating Children’s Sabbath on Sunday, October 19th, at both the 8:30 and 10:50 services. The children will be assisting at both services with Margaret Persky providing the message. Following the 10:50 service, a spaghetti lunch fundraiser will be held in support of the Steady Steps Children’s Weekday Ministry.

The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library welcomes anyone who wants to learn to knit to attend our FREE knitting class. The class is taught by Jutta Dreyer and meets on Mondays from 6:00-7:00 P.M. Please bring a size-8 circular needle and a skein of medium-weight yarn.

The Hilda United Methodist Church is one of the oldest congregations in Mason County. What began as a congregation of about ten people in 1856 gathering outdoors in the Beaver Creek community, has grown into an active congregation consisting of descendants of the original members as well as many new-comers to the area.

The Mason, Texas annual Wild Game Dinner is just around the corner! The dinner will be held on November 8, 2014 at the Ft. Mason Park Community Building off of Hwy 87 South. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. We will be serving BBQ with all the trimmings, whitetail, axis, wild hog, and other wild game.
