The Castell Community Club will have their meeting and a game day on April 25, 2015, at 1:00 PM. There will be a short meeting with the collection of dues. The club is welcoming old and new members and dues are $10.00 a person. Guest are welcome to come and enjoy visiting with friends and enjoying the games.

The Mason Community Thrift Store has another great item up for Silent Auction this month, an original painting by local artist (extraordinaire!), Sue Kaan. The painting is entitled “Mason County Cactus” which has the scene of yellow prickly pear cactus painted in acrylics and set in a 13” x 16” frame of weathered barn-wood.

Due to inclement weather Opening Day for Mason Youth Baseball and Softball has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 18th. Please come out and enjoy a day at the park. Games start at 11 am and will be played throughout the day. We will be serving your choice of BBQ plate with beans, potato salad, bread, pickles and onions; sausage wrap or hotdog meals. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to making this baseball season a success.

West Texas Rehabilitation Center will hold their annual Ride For Rehab April 25 & 26 on the beautiful and historic Blockhouse Ranch in Mason County in the center of the Texas Hill Country. The ranch is located approximately 15 miles west of Mason on HWY 29. The official Cowboy Poet Of Texas Red Steagall will participate in the ride and possibly entertain around the campfire Saturday night.

Cancer is a word no one wants to hear, yet many do. The Mason County Cancer Benefit organization, in conjunction with the Mason County Ministerial Alliance was formed in 2008. Cancer affects our community in a very personal way. Since its inception, MCCB has paid out more than $146,000 to Mason County patient’s battling this devastating disease.

On 21st April on Tuesday night at McCulloch Lodge #273 will present a Golden Trowel Award. The lodge will have supper at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Presentation of the Golden Trowel Award to Manuel Monroe Buntyn at 7:00 p.m. It is the highest award the Texas Masonic Lodge can award to a member of it’s lodge.

Will have the regular monthly meeting on April 20th at 6:30 p.m. at the Post on Post Hill St. Main topics for this meeting will be election of post officers for next year and the election of delegates to the state convention in Houston in June. The ladies will have a meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The Mason Garden Club will be taking a field trip to the RiverSide Nature Center and Camp Verde in Kerrville on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. This is the club’s regular meeting date. The members will be car pooling and need to meet at the library parking lot at 8 a.m.

AREA One Act Play Details - Mason High School’s “The Death and Life of Larry Benson” will perform at HENDRICKSON HIGH SCHOOL (19201 Colorado Sand Dr., PFLUGERVILLE 78660) on Friday, April 17. Historically, the Habitat for Humanity Annual Spring Benefit is one of the most popular soirees in the Mason Calendar each year. And the 2015 Event should prove to be no exception. Scheduled for Saturday, May 16th, from 6-9pm, Mr. Homer Martin will host this year’s Wine Tasting fundraiser at his Ranch located on the Llano River in Mason.

Mason’s own Scott Haupert will join The Artisan String Quartet to perform Mozart’s String Quintet in C major, K.515. The Artisan String Quartet will bring Mozart and Brahms to the Odeon theater Saturday May 2 at 7:00PM. Four world class professionals make up the Artisan Quartet: Richard Kilmer and Paula E.

The Mason County Cancer Benefit's annual fundraising event will be held on Saturday, April 25th at Heritage Park, starting at 11:00 a.m. The memory bag ceremony will be held at dusk. Memory bags in honor of those battling cancer, cancer survivors, or those who have lost their battle are currently available.

St. Joseph parishioners are preparing for their 10th Annual Springfest Fundraiser which serves the public an overflowing plate of delicious BBQ Chicken with all the trimmings. Sunday, April 26th, is the date and serving begins at 11 AM in St. Joseph’s Hall located on the church grounds. The price per plate remains at $10.
