Fredericksburg, TX (July 16, 2015) – The Fredericksburg Theater Company is excited to announce that playwright and original Greater Tuna star Jaston Williams will be their special guest for the August 14th opening of the production. Mr. Williams will attend a celebratory gala held in the lobby of the theater at 6:30 pm.

The football camp this year will be July 27 - 29 (Monday - Wednesday). Those interested in participating in the camp will need to sign up in the high school gym during their registration times. Cost of the camp is $15. After making headlines and “mesmerizing” crowds on her recent tour of France, Suzanna Choffel returned to her home in Austin, Texas, where she continues performing to sell-out crowds at festivals, clubs, and theaters. Choffel brings her band to the Odeon Theater in Mason, Texas, Saturday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m.

The 2nd Annual Mason County Chamber of Commerce Softball Classic will be held on August 1st , 2015 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Fort Mason Park. This year we will be giving away prizes to both the first and second place teams, not to mention $100 to our Homerun Derby winner!

MENARD – A hands-on rain barrel and water conservation workshop has been set from 9 a.m-noon Aug. 3 at the Murchison/Whitehead Memorial Youth Complex located just off U.S. Highway 190 West in Menard. Fredericksburg will celebrate the Hill Country community’s German heritage this Saturday, July 18, during Night In Old Fredericksburg (NIOF) at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds. The annual event is in its second year back at the fair grounds on Highway 16 South, where it is held in conjunction with two days of pari-mutuel horse races.

On July 27th, the Korean Armistice was signed. VFW post 8554 Mason Texas will hold a ceremony before our regular monthly meeting to remember this date. This will be on July 20th at 6:30 p.m. at the post on Post hill st. This is a conflict that is still on going.

Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age” who thrive on celebrating life, are pulling out all the stops with our second annual “Christmas in July.” Last year’s inaugural event, held in Nacho’s back room, was so boisterous they shut the door on us (or maybe it was just to insure we’d pay our tab!).

Everyone is invited to help celebrate Fredericksburg’s German heritage during Night In Old Fredericksburg (NIOF) on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds. The annual event will offer polka and two-stepping, German games, and two days of pari-mutuel horse racing. NIOF begins Saturday around 1 p.m., with washer pitching and 42 dominos tournaments.

Grand Ole Opry Star Jeannie Seely will headline the Llano Country Opry on Saturday, July 11, at the Lantex Theater in downtown Llano, Texas. There is going to be a two day golf tournament this weekend, July 11 and 12, and you all are cordially invited to come out and play with us! On Saturday the format will be 18 hole, one-low ball Shamble. Then on Sunday, it will be another one-low ball event, but on this 18 holes, we’ll use a modified Pinehurst format (the team mates select the one best ball after their tee shots, and then play alternate shot until the ball is holed out). The teams will be flighted after Saturday’s play.
