Kerrville, Texas — Peterson Regional Medical Center (PRMC) continues to take giant steps towards improving the health of newborns and infants by again earning the Texas Ten Step facility designation from the Department of State Health Services and the Texas Hospital Association for a second consecutive term or the past four years.

Vacation bible school, hosted by St. Paul Lutheran Church, First United Methodist Church, and Art United Methodist Church will be held Monday, July 28- Thursday, July 31st from 8:30 a.m.- noon. This year’s VBS will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church. We welcome children who will be 4 years old as of September 1, 2014 all the up to kids who are going into 6th grade this coming school year.

Members of Central Texas Electric Co-op Board District 3 (Mason/Menard/McCullough, Northern Kimble County), met Tuesday, June 3rd in the Mason Junior High cafeteria. The members were welcomed by the co-op’s Chief Executive Officer, Robert A. Loth III. Mr. Loth opened the meeting with the introduction of members of the co-op’s Board of Directors in attendance.

The Odeon Preservation Association will continue their monthly screening of independent and documentary films at the historic Odeon Theater in Mason beginning June 18. The indie/doc film night, always on Wednesday, will showcase filmmakers from Texas, expose film enthusiast to alternatives to the regularly scheduled feature films, and perhaps, inspire the next generation of filmmakers.

McCulloch Lodge #273 recently awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship to a graduating Mason High School Senior. This the first time the Lodge has given a Scholarship. The money came from the members of the Lodge and from The Texas Masonic Charity Foundation. Over 500 Lodges across the state participated in this years awards.

The annual Geistweidt family reunion will be held Saturday, June 14, at the C-I Ranch (the former Edgar Geistweidt ranch in the Salt Branch community), 3648 James River Road, Mason. The Gillespie County Fair & Festival Association is offering a July 4th weekend of pari-mutuel horse racing combined with a Scholarship Fest in Fredericksburg at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds on Friday and Saturday, July 4 and 5. It will be the first pari-mutuel horse race meet of the Gillespie County summer racing season.

The Mason Garden Club will have its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, Stribling Room. This will be a salad luncheon and everyone is asked to bring their favorite salad. Drinks will be furnished. Members are asked to bring their ideas for the next year’s programs and projects.

The Llano Tea Party announces its 2nd annual “Picnic in the Park,” celebrating our nation’s Declaration of Independence from the British Crown. The event will take place on Friday, July 4 at the pavilion in Robinson City Park (RR 152), beginning at 12:00 noon. Site grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, desserts and tea will be served.
