The Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting bids for goats in preparation for the 41st Annual World Championship Barbeque Goat Cook-Off this Labor Day weekend. Bids will be accepted from anyone interested in providing Spanish-Boer Cross goats for the event, and pricing should include the cost of the meat, processing and packaging.

The Long Mountain Community Club will hold their monthly meeting Friday, July 11th at 6:30 p.m. July is designated as Ice Cream month, in the Alphabet A-H is to bring ice cream, and the rest to bring desserts or sandwiches as fillers. See You There!

Carol Tucker will begin an Excel I 2010 class at the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library on July 14. The class will meet for four consecutive Mondays at 6:00 P.M. in the Library. The class is free, and participants will receive a manual. Class size is limited. Please call 325-347-5446 to register.

MENARD – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the All About Water Workshop July 31 at the Murchison/Whitehead Memorial Youth Complex, located at U.S. Highway 190 and U.S. Highway 83 at Menard. Registration will be from 8:30-9:15 a.m. followed by the program from 9:15 a.m.-4 p.m.,said Lisa Brown, AgriLife Extension agent in Menard County.

The boys of "Dig Wars" on Travel Channel TV have been visiting Fort Mason several times since last December. They have discovered hundreds of artifacts. Our speaker for this month will be Mr. Ross J. Cox, Sr., of San Saba, who will present a film presentation and lecture concerning the Confederate States Ship Alabama which will include a scale model of the famous ship. During the War for Southern Independence (1861-1865) the Confederate States of America began the conflict with virtually no navy.

Mason Division of Emergency Management will have a complete listing of street closures and traffic re-routing due to the Round-up parade activities in the July 9th issue of the Mason County News. ALL parade entries will have to check-in on Post Hill Street by the jail. Entries will be given a number then and will be placed in-line as they arrive.

On the 3rd of July, the members of the post will be handing out Flag etiquette booklets at Lowe's market in Mason. These booklets tell everything you need to know about displaying our national colors and when and how to display. We will be there from 9 a.m. until we run out or 3 p.m.
