The Mason County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting last Friday to welcome its newest member, Mason County Garage Doors. They specialize in Residential and light Commercial overhead doors and operating devices - including new installation, repair and maintenance. They service Mason County and surrounding areas. Mason County Garage Doors is owned and operated by Aaron Norman.

Nearly 40 Mason High School students will earn both high school and college credit for some of their courses this spring through a new dual credit partnership between the Mason Independent School District and Angelo State University. On Nov. 19, 2014, Mason ISD became ASU’s first partner for a new off-site dual credit program that offers students the opportunity to earn dual credit for applicable courses taken on their high school campuses.

On Saturday, the Seaquist House Foundation met at the office of David Young to complete the closing on the Seaquist House. Members of the Foundation Board were joined by members of the Seaquist family to finalize the sale, and then the entire group walked down to the home so that they could make an official handoff of ownership.

Recently there has been a unique addition to the Mason ISD Outdoor Learning Center that is attractive as well as multifunctional. Each year Lance Rasch, Mason High School Agricultural Science teacher, challenges his students to design a project that will benefit the students of Mason High School for years to come.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan honored 340 schools November 11, 2014 with the 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools award at a luncheon at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes public and private schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
