Second Chance – Mason Animal Rescue’s pet of the week this week is Gwen. This sweet girl is young, around 1 – 2 years old. Gwen is a Border Collie blend. She was found wandering out by the river and was brought in to the pound.  No one has come to claim her and she is now available for adoption. Gwen gets along fine with other dogs.

Operation Orphans, Inc. has taken underprivileged kids hunting in the Texas hill country for over 50 years. In 2004, a fishing program was added. To date 466 boys and girls from various child care facilities throughout Texas have come to Camp Gene Ashby and have enjoyed fishing on the banks of area rivers and tanks. Chel Terrell, St. Paul Lutheran Church president, presents a check for $2,000 to Mason County Child Welfare Board members Laura Keith, Ann Mahnken and Amanda McMillan. The funds were raised through the Lenten season offerings at St. Paul Lutheran to support the Tuition Assistance offering for the Child Welfare Board Dual Credit Scholarship Program.

Virginia Lemke, a 2010 graduate of Mason High School, graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, on Saturday, May 12, earning her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in three years. She has enrolled in the Master’s Program at HPU, where she will earn her Master’s in Business Administration.

Thomas Gabriel Jennings, homeschooled, has been awarded a four year $5,000.00 Youth Livestock Scholarship sponsored by the State Fair of Texas. The $1,250.00 a year scholarship is renewable by maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Since 1992, the State Fair of Texas Scholarship Program has awarded scholarships to academically talented students who graduate from high schools in the Dallas State Fair Park area.

CONWAY, AR (05/13/2013)— Gabriel Ezekiel Gonzales of Mason, Texas, graduated from Hendrix College on Saturday, May 11 at the College’s 129th commencement ceremony. Gonzales received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Founded in 1876, Hendrix College is a national leader in engaged liberal arts and sciences education. For the fifth consecutive year, Hendrix was named one of the country’s “Up and Coming” liberal arts colleges by U.S.

Amber Lauren Cooper was valedictorian of her class in Junction back in 2008. Her parents are Mark and Kim Cooper (and brother Chase) of Junction; grandparents are Roy and Sheila Cooper of Mason, and Maxine King of Granbury, Texas. She is so lucky to have her two great grandmothers, Clara Velma Starks and Viletha Cooper of Mason.

K.C. Coleman will be receiving his high school diploma from Grace Christian School at the GCS Graduation and Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 17, 2013. K.C. has attended Grace Christian School since first grade. He has completed his education in only eleven years. During those years, K.C. has been on the GCS Honor Roll and has attained the Highest Academic Achievement Award each year.

Kate Brintnall and Nick Reeves are happy to announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. Kate, daughter of Russ and Susan Brintnall, is a 2008 graduate of Baptist Health Systems Nursing School. Kate currently works as a Registered Nurse in the Burn Intensive Care Unit at Brooke Army Medical Center. Nick, son of Kim Dagate and Greg Reeves, is a 2007 graduate of UTSA.

Tana and Cody Autrey joyfully announce the arrival of their son, William Kase Autrey. Kase was born on March 19, 2013, at the College Station Medical Center, College Station, TX. He weighed seven pounds, five ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. Kase is welcomed by his grandparents, Tim and Helen Dockal and great grandparents Dennie and Emma Gene Jackson.

Jackson Cole Hood is pleased to announce the arrival of his baby sister, Hailey Reese Hood, who was born November 27, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, TX. Hailey weighed in at seven pounds, five ounces, and was 19.5 inches long. Her parents are Andy and Kellie Hood of College Station.

The Bass Gang is here at Ole Yellow, and just how cute and funny are these 5, 6-month old puppies. There are 4 females and 1 male , their mother was a Walker Hound now their father is another story, he came from a shorter more to the ground hound dog.

Brie Lynn Lehmberg and Joshua Michael Foster were united in marriage Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the old Voca schoolhouse in Voca,Texas. Judge Fritz Landers preformed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Brad and Terry Lehmberg , grand-daughter of Kenneth and Bonnie Davis and the late Rae and Lou Lehmberg, all of Mason.
