Tanya Buys of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Dan and Judith Barton of Mason announce the engagement of Chrysteena Lairamore and James Barton. Chrysteena will complete her MBA at San Francisco State University in the spring of 2015. James is a partner with Point Forward in Redwood City, California. The couple is planning a wedding in March, 2015, in Austin, Texas.

Kelley, Britny (Lehmberg) and Pierce Fowler are thrilled to announce that they have added another precious miracle to their family. The newest blessing is a baby girl, Arabelle Joy Fowler, born September 4, 2014, in Austin, Texas. She weighed in at seven pounds and a quarter ounce, and was 19.5 inches long.

The joys of Christmas! Carolers make their way around the community singing glorious songs about the birth of Jesus. Twinkling lights and glistening ornaments and ribbons hang festively on Christmas trees with beautifully wrapped gifts snuggled underneath. Children run inside for hot cocoa (with marshmallows!) after a day of playing hard in the cold.

The Mason County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting last Thursday to welcome its newest member, Farmer's Insurance. The local office is located at 411 Fort McKavitt St., Suite A and is operated by agent Kyle Allen. The office is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, offering insurance for home, auto, life commercial and health.

Mason Carter Mills, son of Trey and Sarah Mills and great-grandson of Jerry Ellis, was born on August 5, 2014 at 2:56 a.m. He weighed in at eight pounds, nine ounces, and was 20 inches long.

During the November 17 meeting of the Mason City Commission, discussion ran long and tempers were high during discussions about the planned Pontotoc Street bridge over Comanche Creek; and, about the purchase of new automated garbage trucks for the City. The Mason County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for their newest member, PANACEA, owned by Sally Martin. PANACEA was created in line with Sally Martin’s values of bringing people together around meaningful experiences. Creativity, health, art, and learning are all part of her intention for the gallery in Mason.

To date, TDA has recognized more than 4,800 properties in 237 counties across Texas. AUSTIN – In a celebration of agriculture and family heritage, the Texas Department of Agriculture today honored 82 farms and ranches spanning 61 Texas counties at the 39th Annual Family Land Heritage (FLH) ceremony. The ceremony, held in the House Chamber at the Texas State Capitol, recognizes Texas families who have kept their farms and ranches in continuous agricultural production for 100 years or more.

Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, the Class of ‘49, held their 65th Reunion at the Peter’s Prairie School House. There were 43 in the graduating class in 1949 and there are 26 still living with 14 attending the reunion. Many of those did not attend due to health problems. We saw a few more canes and a little more forgetfulness of recent events.

H. C. Reichenau celebrated his 97th birthday Halloween Night at his home on Ritter St. Friends and family along with lots of “trick or treaters” came by to wish him Happy Birthday. He was born October 31, 1917, on the family ranch near London Texas. He retired from the Texas State Highway Department after 35 years of service.

Angela & Chase Smith are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Sadie Christine Smith. Sadie was born on August 10, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital. She arrived at 8:58 p.m. weighing nine pounds, two ounces and measuring 21 inches long. She is welcomed by big sisters Heidi & Landyn and grandparents Karen & David Schulze, Brenda & Greg Lange, and Michele & Paul Smith.

The Mason Community Foundation is proud to announce that another milestone has been made, in topping the $250,000 mark (a Quarter of a Million dollars!) in grants contributed back to the community. The grants recently awarded were to the Mason Basketball Association, Steady Steps, Odeon Preservation and Mason Community Choir.

After interviewing applicants to replace former Justice of the Peace Tammi Bowman, the Mason County Commissioners' Court selected James Treg Hudson as her replacement during a special meeting last week. On Monday, Hudson was sworn in and began his official duties.

Llano High School librarian, Jil Dillard, and Llano elementary school principal, Shelly Schuessler, should be smiling. They’ve just completed the Chicago Marathon, Sunday, October 12. That’s 26.2 miles, and Chicago is one of the top three marathons in the U.S., top 10 in the world.
