The Lions Club District 2-A1 Has for it’s new District Governor; John Gammill of the Mason Lions Club, Gammill is the first Lion from the Mason Lions Club to serve as District Governor. Gammill will be Governor for the 2014-2015 Lions Year. District 2-A1 is an expansive West Texas district that stretches from Kingsland to Midland and Sweetwater to Junction.

This past weekend the Mason County Chamber of Commerce held their 1st Annual Softball Classic at the Ft. Mason Park baseball fields. The tournament was a huge success! There were a total of twelve teams entered into the tournament. After approximately 19 hours of games, The Recruits ended up with the 1st place prize.

Liberty Hill incoming senior, Jaycie Pluenneke and her teammates brought home the Bronze. As members of the 17 Cedar Park Austin Junior Volleyball team, they participated in the AAU Volleyball National Championships held in Orlando, Florida June 21-24. Mason High School class of 1989 celebrated their 25th class reunion at the home of Toby Gibbs. Seventeen classmates had a ‘totally awesome’ BBQ meal followed by dancing to some ‘radical’ 80’s music provided by DJ Pete! A collection was gathered by the class to donate to the memorial scholarship fund for Lee Graham, their beloved principal.

This was Dale Scott's 22nd year to participate in the police games and he won one gold and one silver medal. First place in fighting, and second place in forms. Dale is a fifth degree Black Belt. He has been with the Mason County Sheriff's Department for 15 years.
