Our 7th graders came out prepared and ready to go as Junction came to town. We saw all around improvements on Thursday. The defense pitched a shutout and our offense played well as we marched the ball down the field. Our linemen up did an excellent job on both sides of the ball, blocking well on offense and holding the line on defense.

The seventh grade came out Thursday ready to play as they came out quick and fast against Center Point. The offensive line improved greatly from last week and our backs did an excellent job reading their blocks. The receivers even did an excellent job blocking and catching the ball. Our special teams even got a score when the defense pinned them deep in their own territory and recovered a punt in the end zone.

The Punchers and Cowgirls would like to thank each and every one of you who came out to either help with the meet or to support our runners. Without the help from volunteers around town and the staff of Mason ISD, we could not have had such a successful meet.

Friday night's Homecoming game against the Center Point Pirates was a great night for the Punchers; but, not such a good night for Center Point. The Punchers were able to play many of their youngest players from very early in the game and were still able to take home a 64-19 victory. From the opening play, the Punchers literally were running with the ball, scoring in the first minute of play on a 21-yard Seth Hudson run.

Each girl is continuing to improve every day and their hard work is paying off in the meets. From the first day of practice, I have seen each girl improve and that’s all I could ever ask for.

The Harper Longhorns found the Mason Puncher defense to be a tough obstacle last Friday. The Punchers kept their offense reigned in for most of the game, allowing younger and less experienced players the opportunity to spend time on the field; but, Harper still could not stop the Punchers when they began moving the ball. During the first quarter, the Punchers only scored twice.
