The Mason Punchers arrived at the Georgetown I.S.D. Stadium last Friday night with more than just butterflies in their stomachs! A nasty stomach bug had been making the rounds of Mason High School last week, and several of the players were still feeling the effects of that bug, as was Head Coach Kade Burns. Though the Punchers were moving slower than usual, they focused on their game, kept their heads about them, and then,,,, they played football! The first quarter moved slowly in relation to ...

It was amusing on Saturday to read the stories about last Friday's game between Mason and Refugio. They all expressed surprise at Mason's victory, and indicated that Refugio felt like every penalty went against them, every break went for Mason. All I can surmise is that the people writing those articles did not see the same quarterfinal game between the Bobcats and the Punchers that I did. In the game I saw, the Punchers had nine penalties for a total of 81 yards, while Refugio had five penalt ...

The Three Rivers Bulldogs had an incredible 2014 season; but, it came to an end last Friday night when the Punchers defeated them 42-0 at Russell Stadium in Buda. The Punchers were at the top of their game Friday night. From the opening kickoff, the Mason team had control of the field, and they would shut down the Bulldogs every time they began an offensive drive. Early in the first quarter, Seth Hudson broke loose and ran in 17-yards for Mason's first touchdown of the night.

Conditions seemed oddly similar to 2013 on Friday night as Mason met up with the Shiner Comanches at Dragon Stadium in Round Rock. Storms were building in the area, just as they had last year when Mason and Shiner met up in Leander, though it was a bit warmer this time.

7th grade Our 7th grade Punchers came out ready to play against the Johnson City Eagles on Thursday. All across the board, our boys did well. Up front, on both sides of the ball, our linemen controlled the line of scrimmage. Our linebackers and defensive backs did an excellent job of keeping their gains to a minimum.

The Mason Cowgirls were sent off Friday by both campuses at school and then by a wonderful crowd of supporters on the square! We can not thank the Mason community enough for all of the support throughout the year. Whether you were on the square Friday, worked at our meet, or sent texts and emails to the kids and I, you were all equally important to our program this year! The Cowgirls fell a little shy of where we had hoped to end up at the state meet; however, it is hard to be disappointed in ...

The Mason Punchers and the Johnson City Eagles headed into Friday night's matchup with unbroken winning streaks for the 2014 season. Only one team could walk away with that record intact, and it was the Punchers who held on to the record, and claimed first place in the district, with a 34-6 victory. The unbeaten records of the two teams guaranteed that it was going to be a good game, and Mason fans turned out to support their Punchers.

The JV white team played very well against a very good Goldthwaite team. The backs ran the ball hard behind good blocking from the guys in the trenches. The defense played a very physical game and held strong against the Eagle Offense. The Punchers won 40-14.
