Puncher Baseball started district last Saturday, due to the game being postponed from Friday, with the first win of the season.
The Punchers went up 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st inning and kept that lead until the top of the 3rd when errors forced 3 opponent runs across.
On March 10, we traveled to Center Point to play our first district game. The Varsity didn’t play like they know how to and they made mistakes that really hurt the team. The girls realize after that loss that they have to step it up in order to compete in our district.
The Mason tennis team advanced to the state finals last weekend in Austin. The finals match was rained out and postponed until March 22nd. Mason will play Brock in the finals in Lampasas at high noon.

Our Mason Junior High Girls Track teams competed well at the Comfort Track & Field Meet on Friday, March 7, 2013. It was a very competitive track meet with larger schools, but our girls rose to the level of competition and we came home with several medals and ribbons. The majority of our girls also improved their times/distances/heights from the previous track meet as well.
Our 7th & 8th grade Mason Cowgirl track teams competed in the Junction Middle School Track Meet on Thursday, Feb. 27th. Each one of our girls competed with heart and represented our team well. There were no team point totals kept or official times/heights/distances, but our athletes were awarded ribbons for their placings in events/heats.
The 2nd Annual Lee Graham Relays will be March 15th.
Field events will begin at 10 a.m. and the running finals will begin at approximately 2 p.m.; or, 1 hour after field events are over.
Anyone interested in working the meet can contact Coach Burns at 325.347.1122 ext 229. Hope to see you at the track.

For our first game of the season the girls played well. For not having a lot of practice they exceeded my expectations. We have worked hard all week on fixing the little mistakes we made during the game and we will have a strong showing in the Sonora tournament this Thursday and Saturday.
This weekend the Cowgirls competed in the Junction Softball Tournament. We played with a lot of intensity against some tough teams. Overall the girls are getting better and working together as a team. We need to work on eliminating fielding errors, which will get better with practice and confidence. There were some great plays made this weekend and also some great hits by the Cowgirls.
